Vivid 2023 is on from May 26-June 17 and there are more than 60 family-friendly events on throughout the festival and in the days after.
Here’s a quick look at what’s happening during Vivid:
Vivid Lightwalk & Family Friendly events: See everything there is to see on the lightwalk around the Sydney CBD. From the MCA to The Rocks, Custom House, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and even Central Station, you’ll be sure to find something spectacular no matter what path you follow. May 26-June 17.
Vivid Kids @ Tumbalong Park: Start your Light Walk journey in Tumbalong Park at 5pm each Saturday during the festival as the stage lights up with free children’s acts ahead of a night of live music.

Lightscape: This paid event has been highly anticipated. Explore the Royal Botanic Gardens and see the myriad of light installations among the beautiful gardens. 5.30-10pm each night.
Wild Lights – Discover a brand-new light trail through Taronga Zoo, lit up with over 130 lanterns and lights, that will take you on a captivating adventure with some of Australia’s most iconic species for this years Vivid festival. 5.30pm & 7.30pm each night.

There are a number of other events happening during and after Vivid that aren’t directly related.
Wild Nights at Wild Life Sydney Zoo: The intimate, one-hour Wild Nights zoo tours are led by passionate zookeepers and provide groups with the unique opportunity to learn more about Australia’s most iconic animals at night. For ages 5 and up. $60 per person. May 26 & 27 and June 2 & 3.
Luna Park in the Dark: Luna Park is powering down, allowing guests to experience rollercoaster rides and everything the theme park has to offer under the light of the stars. There will be roving performers, bars, hot chocolate carts, popcorn and light-up fairy-floss. Lights off will commence from 6pm. 5-10pm, May 26-27, June 2-3 and June 9-11.
Vivid by Sea: Sydney Harbour Kayaks presents a special 90-minute night-time sea kayaking tour especially for Vivid 2023. Cast off at dusk and watch the city come to life from your floating vantage point. Paddle your way by night under expert guidance, taking in the sights and sounds of Vivid Sydney 2023 from the water line. Maritime Museum, bookings essential, limited places.
Novotel Sydney Central: The Novotel Sydney Central has kicked things up a notch to celebrate Vivid, working in partnership with Sugar Republic, the hotel has installed a giant illuminated ball pit in the lobby for the duration of the festival. Suited to both children and adults, it is filled with colourful balls surrounded by neon lights. Their Vivid package runs until June 17 and includes overnight accommodation in a twin room, buffet breakfast, kids eat free, parking, welcome pack (glow sticks, wine, soft drink). Stay from $295.
Glow Sydney Zoo – See more than 70 giant animal lanterns and installations, the Underwater Wonderland, Neon Playground, Ferris wheel, Neon Arcade, Glowy Golf and so much more. From 5.30pm, until June 17, Sydney Zoo.
