The spooky season is once again upon us and for those who hate that we’re celebrating a US holiday in Australia, it seems like there’s no fighting it.
Here’s a list of some venue hosting Halloween events around Sydney that the kids will love.
BOUNCE Homebush – BOUNCE is taking the festivities to new heights by inviting thrill-seekers of all ages to embark on a freestyle play adventure like never before. From goulish decor and bone-chilling challenges to hair-raising tricks, BOUNCE will be the ultimate frightfully-fun space for the whole family this Halloween. Broadway Shopping Centre – Join the Trick-or-Treat Trail, kicking off from 3.30pm until 5.30pm, on Halloween evening. The centre invites all little ghouls and goblins, princesses and pirates to join the Halloween hunt through the centre on Level 3. Museum of Fire – The museum is staying open late on Halloween and is inviting visitors to come dressed up and find some spooky rocks hidden around the Museum. There will be prizes up for grabs and kids (under 16) that dress up get in for free. There will also be running fire engine rides until 6pm. Marrickville Metro – The centre is hosting workshops like Toffee Apple and Slime Making, plus there will be face painting, a “snap and win” competition and a trick-or-treat event on October 29. October 28-31, Marrickville Metro.
Petersham Bowling Club – They’re holding their annual kid’s Halloween Disco with prizes for best dressed. 4.30-6.30pm, Tuesday, October 31, on the green, Petersham Bowling Club, Petersham.
Mimmynvovo – They’ve launched their Halloween Spooky Selfie Experience. This immersive studio experience will take guests on a journey to a frightfully fantastic world. Perfect for the whole family, a date night, or a group experience for friends, expect interactive selfie sets, spooky games, immersive props, ball pits and incredible themed rooms. Luna Park – Sydney’s biggest Halloween festival returns. Conquer the 150-metre Halloween maze, explore a completely transformed Coney Island, and experience the thrills of unlimited rides. 6-10pm, October 27-31, Luna Park, Milsons Point.
Centennial Park – Have some good old-fashioned Halloween fun at the Little Park of Horrors in Centennial Park. Spooky stories, ghoulish games, creepy crawlers and crafts await. Be sure to dress up in your Halloween-inspired outfit and of course there will be a treat at the end. Suitable for children 4-10yrs old. Parents or carers must remain with their children during the program. Multiple sessions from 8.30am-3.45pm, Sunday, October 29, Wild Play Discovery Centre, Centennial Park.
Sydney Zoo – Explore the zoo and collect candy as you go. Join the fun at the Monster Mash Disco, enter the largest Reptile & Nocturnal House in the world transformed into a Spooky House and come face-to-face with nocturnal creatures and reptiles. There will also be rides, games, crafts, and much more. October 27-29, Sydney Zoo, Eastern Creek.
Play Studio – Play Studio is hosting a Halloween party with magic potion making, costume dress ups, games, craft and a dance party. Play Studio is for kids aged 4 months to 5 years. 2.30-4pm, Monday, October 30, Play Studio, Bondi Junction.
Bangor Tavern – Kids can enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, free tricks and treats plus there are prizes for the best dressed. 11am-2pm, Sunday, October 29, Bangor Tavern, Bangor.
Taren Point Hotel – TPH is having a Halloween disco (1-3pm), plus there will be a reptile zoo (12-2pm), games and prices for the best dressed. Make sure to book a table in advance. 12pm-3pm, Sunday, October 29, Taren Point Hotel, Taren Point.
Penrith Skatel – This fun Halloween skate will have spooky music, fun games and prizes for the best dressed. October 27-28, Penrith Skatel, Emu Plains.
Elara Village Shopping Centre – The centre is hosting an evening of Halloween fun with stilt walkers, a balloon artist, live music, a craft workshop, food trucks, lollies and a “find the secret code” competition. 5-8pm, Saturday, October 28, in the car park near the Marsden Park Neighbourhood Centre, Elara Village Shopping Centre.
The Peakhurst – Kids can join in on Halloween house making and decorating workshops, face painting and glitter tattoos, trick or treating and enjoy a Halloween themed kids movie. It’s a ticketed event, $10 per child for the whole day. From 11am, Saturday, October 28, The Peakhurst, Forest Rd, Peakhurst.
Top Ryde City Shopping Centre – The centre is hosting a weekend of spooktacular events, from “hide & shriek” and a spooky disco to a range of family-friendly activities, including face painting and a freaky photo zone. October 28-29, Top Ryde City Shopping Centre, Top Ryde.
Botany Aquatic Centre – The swim centre is hosting a movie night for kids. The film will be Happy Halloween Scooby Doo! There will be food available for purchase and prizes for best dressed. Visitors are invited to come early for a swim and stay for the film (but there’s no swimming after 6.45pm). From 6.45pm, Saturday, October 28, Botany Aquatic Centre, Botany.
Cammeray Square – This Halloween season, kids can get stuck into some ooey-gooey fun with some Mad Slime Professors as they demonstrate how to create slime. Kids will have the chance to get creative and colourful, creating their own slime to play with and take home. $5 per ticket. Multiple sessions from 11.40am-2.10pm, Saturday, October 28, Cammeray Square, Cammeray.
Moorebank Sports Club – Their Halloween Family Fun Day will feature a jumping castle, slime workshop, tasty treats, face painting, and a BBQ from their smoker. 12pm-3pm, Sunday, October 29, Moorebank Sports Club, Moorebank.
Ballet Nina Bondi – Ballet Nina is hosting two Halloween fun themed classes for their Toddler Ballet, featuring spooky props and magical music. October 26-27, Bondi School of Arts, 138 Bondi Rd, Bondi.
