Kids music courses: Since 2004, the International School of Music Leichhardt has been teaching group music and piano courses specifically tailored for students developmental ages, starting from 2-years-old.
Their Jitterbugs Music Course caters for 2 year-olds and includes lots of fun activities including singing, dancing, percussion playing, craft making and even story time. The course includes musical movement that helps to develop gross motor skills. It’s also a great way for children to develop their social skills and further bond with their parents and carers.
Weekly themes are centered around concepts such as colours, numbers, animals and shapes. These classes 30 minutes and cost $13.50 (plus $39.95 for the course book).
The school’s Little Beebopper Music Course caters for 3 year-olds and focuses on music concepts such as the treble and bass, pitch development, read/clap/play percussion to written rhythms and action and movement that helps develop both fine and gross motor skills.
Each lesson has a broader theme such as the beach or animal weeks and children can bring along something for show and tell. These classes run for 45 minutes and cost $19 (plus $39.95 for the course book).
The school also runs Pianorama Junior group music classes for 4-6-year-olds, and Pianorama Primary groups for 7-9-year-olds.
These kids music courses take place at Level 1, 35 Norton St, Leichhardt. For more information visit ismleichhardt.com.au
