April is already here and with it come the autumn school holidays. We’ve put together another list of school holidays activities happening across Sydney, both free and ticketed events, big and small.

If there’s nothing here that interests your kids, make sure to check out your local library, council and shopping centre websites for any activities they might be hosting near you.

Minecraft Legends: Xbox ANZ is hosting Minecraft Legends workshops for all ages. Minecraft Legends is a new action-strategy game, filled with adventure and the workshops provide players with the opportunity to experience it for themselves. Participants will embark on an exciting journey through a familiar yet mysterious land filled with diverse life, lush biomes and rich resources, all on the brink of destruction with the sudden arrival of the piglins, who are threatening to corrupt the Overworld. Players will explore this exciting new world, meet new characters and battle the piglins to save the day. Each participant will receive a Minecraft Legends gift bag and certificate. There will also be the opportunity to meet one of the game’s most popular creators, Eystreem, on from 12-2pm, Saturday April 22. Register now to reserve a spot, as spaces are limited. Easter High Tea: The Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park is hosting a Down the Rabbit Hole High Tea experience for the whole month of April. The Rabbit Hole High Tea buffet on Easter Saturday and Sunday with an Easter themed menu filled with Hot Cross Scones, Mont Blanc Tarts, and Bunny Cheesecakes. Treat the kids to a visit from Mr Rabbit as well colouring-in activities that will keep your kids busy while you enjoy a glass of sparkling wine. Powerhouse Museum: There’s a range of activities on at the Powerhouse Museums three locations – Ultimo, Parramatta and Castle Hill – throughout the autumn school holidays. From poster and record designing to coding, art making and more. Activities are designed for a range of age groups, from 5 years-15+ and there are a mix of free and ticketed events. Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and Wild Life Sydney Zoo: Peppa Pig is back and on interactive adventure between the two wild life attractions. Meet Peppa as she dives into her adventure and makes friends with some of the ocean’s most incredible animals. There’s a fun interactive trail where little piggies can help count all the starfish, find all the hidden seahorses, and help the clownfish find its way back home. Along the way, you will meet some incredible creatures and discover how to keep them safe in our oceans. Maritime Museum: There’s brand new exhibitions, vessels creative workshops, tours, trails and more at the Maritime Museum these school holidays. Catch the Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks Exhibition and the just-opened Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, from the Natural History Museum of London. Discover the underwater science of Sydney Harbour at the Ocean Health Lab, get creative with art and science experiments at Kids On Deck and follow a Maritime Minifig activity Trail, try your hand at piloting an underwater drone and relax in the Kelp Corner reading room, climb aboard a Daring destroyer and a tall ship, then uncover museum mysteries with the Cabinet of Curiosities touch collection. Sydney Opera House: There’s a great line up of performances, workshops and talks at the Sydney Opera House these school holidays. See the iconic children’s book Possum Magic brought to life on stage, immerse yourself in the light design of Saltbush and dance the night away in a euphoric hip-hop inspired journey through Greek mythology in The Gods The Gods The Gods. Alice in Wonderland: The Australian Shakespeare Company presents Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland at the Royal Botanic Garden. All our favourite characters for the iconic story will be there, from the constantly late White Rabbit to the conniving Cheshire Cat. The production features song, dance and interactive games that the whole family will enjoy. All children and adults over 12-months of age require a ticket. Children under 12-months admitted free. Darling Harbour Easter Fun: Darling Harbour, The Rocks and Barrangaroo are putting on Easter egg hunts and other fun and exciting events for the whole family to take part in. April 8-9. Darling Harbour. darlingharbour.com

Hungry Caterpillar Chatswood: Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar is being brought to life on stage at The Concourse this April. The production features more than 75 magical puppets and an Australian cast. The audience will also get to enjoy some of Carle’s other stories, including Brown Bear, Ten Little Rubber Duckies and The Very Busy Spider. The production is by the team behind other Australian tours, The Gruffalo, Spot and more. It runs for approximately 50 minutes. $41. April 19-23 at The Concourse, Chatswood. Ku-ring-gai Council: The council has a range of events happening for kids during these school holidays. The art centre Art Centre is hosting kids classes include painting, drawing, pottery, wheel throwing, creative writing, printmaking, mixed media, puppet-making, embroidery, beaded jewellery, papier-mâchér, guitar workshops and more. There’s a number of activities for kids of all ages at the Wildflower Garden and there’s even Junior and intermediate golf clinic at Gordon Golf Course where children and teens can learn basic skills through to advanced techniques including chipping, putting and on course etiquette. krg.nsw.gov.au
Lane Cove Children’s Festival: The program will include storytelling, games, craft and songs and is ideal for 2-11 year olds. This is a free event but registrations are essential. 2-4pm, Saturday, April 22. Waterview Community Centre, Hughes Park, Lane Cove. humantix.com
The Newport: Enjoy easter Sunday at The Newport. The café will open from 10am with activities for the kids during the day and an appearance by the Easter Bunny himself. At 12pm there will be Easter basket making and at 2pm there will be an easter egg hunt with the easter bunny.

Cronulla Easter Show: Cronulla Mall is being turned into a fun-filled arena, with high energy entertainers including stilt walkers, jugglers, and more. There will also be showbags, farm animals, face painting and pony rides. Enjoy the sideshow alley, market and food stalls as well as some of Sydney’s best kids rides. Entry is free. Inflatable World Miranda: Rec Club turns into a kid’s wonderland in the school holidays, with the Kids Club House. With Inflatable World and all their school holiday camp programs and activities, there’s something for everyone. Sydney Zoo Dinosaur Safari: The new Dinosaur Safari leads visitors on a prehistoric adventure through Sydney Zoo, to discover all you favourite life-size, moving, and roaring dinosaurs.
