Timezone – It feels like it’s been around forever, but Timezone never gets old. The ideal place to spend a few hours with the kids on a rainy day or just for fun, they have venues all over Sydney.

Holey Moley – Looking for something a little different to keep the kids entertained? Try Holey Moley Darlinghurst’s fun attractions and mini-golf for kids. Holey Moley has a number of uniquely themed holes across multiple courses. From an Operation-themed hole to a Forest Gump park bench and Monopoly-inspired obstacles, there’s lots of fun and challenging, pop-culture inspired holes to try. Children can also sing their hearts out in the karaoke rooms and enjoy the venue’s kid-friendly menu. There are a number of Holey Moley venues across Sydney.

Strike Bowling – A great wet-weather venue, or just a fun day out no matter what, Strike Bowling has plenty of fun things for the kids to do. There are multiple bowling lanes and the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park location also indlues a laser tag arena, karaoke rooms and more. The venue can also host parties for both adults and kids. There’s a full menu and bar too. If you do head to the Entertainment Quarter, you can also head next door to B. Lucky and Sons to try out their huge range of arcade games. Other Strike Bowling locations include Chatswood, Macquarie, Castle Hill and King St Wharf in the CBD.

CBD

Australian National Maritime Museum – Spend a day exploring the museum and experience their range of exhibitions for all-ages. Climb aboard or take a 360-degree virtual tour of a vessel, explore the museum’s digital collections and galleries, play a game or get crafty with ocean-themed kids activities. The museum also runs school holiday activities and has a range of specially created educational resources for parents. 2 Murray St, Sydney.

Australian Museum – Explore the museum’s permanent galleries, check out their latest exhibitions and let the kids explore their new Burra play space. There’s plenty to for the whole family and you might even learn a thing or two as well. 1 William St, Darlinghurst.

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium – Go under the sea and get up close and personal with hundreds of sea life creatures, sharks, coral and more. Take a ride through their penguin sanctuary and wave hello. There’s always something new to see at the Aquarium and you can bundle your pass with the neighbouring Wild Life Zoo and Madame Tussauds. 1-5 Wheat Rd, Circular Quay, Sydney.

Wild Life Sydney Zoo – See crocodiles, koalas, wombats, native birds and so much more at the Aussie zoo in the heart of our harbour. Parts of the zoo are outdoors, so you may need to skip through those on a rainy day. 1-5 Wheat Rd, Circular Quay, Sydney.

Madame Tussauds – Get your camera ready as you pose alongside Chris Hemsworth, Batman and the Queen in this iconic wax museum. Stand next to some of the most famous celebrities, sports icons and changemakers the world has seen and size yourself up against them. Are they as tall as you thought they’d be? There’s always something fun to discover at Madame Tussauds. 1-5 Wheat Rd, Circular Quay, Sydney.

Catmosphere Surry Hills – Sydney’s original cat cafe gives visitors the chance to have a play and a pat with rescue cats and kittens. They have a number of experiences including, Kittyland, The Treehouse and Catflix Cat Cinema (for ages 5+), Cat Lounge and Cat Yoga (for ages 8+). Entry prices depend on which experience you choose but start from $24 per person and session times vary. They are open Wednesday-Sunday, 11am-late. Bookings are essential. 66 Foveaux St, Surry Hills

NORTH

Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre – pend the day at this indoor pool which features water play equipment for children of all ages. There are deep and shallow pools too so fun for the whole family. 504 Victoria Rd, Ryde.

Macquarie Ice Rink – Get the kids out of the house and take them for a skate at the ice rink in Macquarie Park. You can hire all your skating gear there too. Corner of Herring Road and, Waterloo Rd, North Ryde.

Climb Fit St Leonards – has more than 1500sqm of climbing fun, with state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering facilities. Their climbs range in difficulty and routes are switched up weekly, so climbers get to face a new challenge regularly. They also have a dedicated kid’s program. SOUTH

Climb Fit Kirrawee – has more than 3500sqm of climbing fun, with state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering facilities. Their climbs range in difficulty and routes are switched up weekly, so climbers get to face a new challenge regularly. There’s a dedicated kids area with themed walls and the venue also has group climbing workshops and kid’s coaching. You can hire equipment and shoes at the venue and they even do family passes. 23 Waratah St, Kirrawee

EAST

House Down Under – Located at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, the House Down Under is another fun activity to tick off your list while you’re there. Take a walk through this inverted house and take photos of the family hanging from the sky and tumbling out of chairs. The wait times can be hefty on a weekend so be prepared to hang around. Kaboo Splatter Paint Studio – A splatter paint session is exactly what it sounds like, and at Kaboo Studio, they’re about an hour long. Each session includes a 16×20-inch canvas and custom take-home box, plus all the tools you’ll need to make your piece of art, including paints, smocks, goggles and more. Archie Brothers Arcade Alexandria – A great place to take kids no matter their age, Archie Brothers has something fun for everyone, even adults. There are dodgem cars, carousels, a bowling alley, laser tag, normal arcade games and even a simulated thrill ride. 75 O’Riordan St, Alexandria.

Hijinx Hotel Alexandria – This is an immersive interactive game experience. Housed within the theme, wonder and theatre of a quirky New York hotel, these 15 rooms are reimagined into quick play, challenge rooms. Kids are more than welcome but the recommend age is 5-years+. 75 O’Riordan St, Alexandria.

INNER WEST

Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym St Peters – is the southern hemisphere’s biggest climbing gym, with 3700sqm of climbing walls. They’re the only climbing gym that boasts both world class climbing and bouldering. Their climbs vary in difficulty, from very easy for beginners to hard routes for competitive climbers. They cater for all ages, with entry available from 0-17 years and adults. The gym also has classes and you can hire equipment there. WEST

Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre – Spend the day at this indoor pool and its enormous children’s play area – Splasher’s Playground. There are deep and shallow pools, water slides and so much more. It’s fun for the whole family. Olympic Blvd, Sydney Olympic Park.

Ultimate Family Entertainment Northmead – is a huge family entertainment venue with interconnected trampolines, a giant foam pit and a climbing wall. There are spin bumper cars and a slip-and-slide. Their Kid’s World Play Centre is specifically catered for 0-5-year-olds and has a three-level obstacle course, trampolines, climbing walls and slides designed for toddlers. Entry prices vary dependant on age and time of year, and you can purchase hourly or all-day passes. Booking in advance is strongly recommended. 5/1B Redbank Rd, Northmead

Entertainment Park Bankstown – There’s no chance you or the kids will get bored at Entertainment Park Bankstown. The huge indoor facility has everything from a 3500sqm go-kart track to the latest arcade games and more. Perfect for ages 5 to adult. 361 Milperra Rd, Bankstown.
