The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival are back for another year and children are welcome in all areas.

The parade will feature more than 1000 marchers. There will be live music all day, plus markets and stalls, Irish dancing, face painting, arts and crafts and Paw Patrol and Sesame Street characters will be doing meet and greets, plus a whole lot more.

Waru – journey of the small turtle

The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre Sutherland is opening its doors for its very first public performance, Waru – journey of a small turtle.
The performance is based on the first ever children’s work from Australia’s leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performing arts company, Bangarra Dance Theatre. The show will be a special preview performance in the brand-new Pavilion Performing Arts Centre.
The show provides teachers, parents, and caregivers with a unique opportunity to open up conversations about climate change, caring for the environment and the traditional values of respect and reciprocity. Alongside the performance of Waru, families will be invited into the stunning new Pavilion Performing Arts Centre foyer for curated, hands-on activities led by the Australian Maritime Museum. Children will have the opportunity to make their own ghost net turtle and join in on craft and educational activities before and after the show.
The 1.30pm performance on the Saturday will be followed by an interactive talk on stage, where children and their families will have the opportunity to hear more about The Torres Strait Islands and the Green Turtle.
The performance runs for 45 minutes.

Sculpture by the Sea 2022
Not even La Niña can keep Sculpture by the Sea away after three years. It’s finally back for 2022 and there’s plenty of amazing art to see against the backdrop of Sydney’s most iconic beaches.
Sculpture by the Sea runs along the 2km Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk and is the world’s largest free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition. There are more than 100 sculptures and artworks Australian and international artists.
For the very first time there will also be a mobile app which will offer a free, interactive way for visitors to easily navigate around the various Sculpture by the Sea artworks and discover details about works and their artists.
Another first for the Sydney exhibition, Sculpture by the Sea is asking all visitors to consider making a voluntary contribution of $5 on entry, or $10 for families, to help fund the exhibition and to ensure it can continue well into the future.

Parramatta Lanes
Parramatta Lanes is celebrating 10 years of fun with a street festival like no other.
Get ready for four days of street food, live music, and free desserts as local restaurants, food trucks and pop-up stalls offer some of Sydney’s most delicious dishes across ten sites.
Dining establishments include Firepop, The Pharoah BBQ, Pocket Rocketz, Satay Bros, Burger Head and Hyderabad House plus Butter Parramatta, Lilymu, Koi Dessert Bar and Mrs Wang’s Dumplings.

Ukubebe 10th birthday celebration with music fun for everyone

Ukubebe is celebrating its 10th birthday and the one-year anniversary of the release of their latest children’s album Watermelon Jazz.
To commemorate the occasion, Ukubebe are holding a birthday part with live singing, dancing and performance. The whole family can come along and enjoy jazz and country music, action songs and loads more kindy fun.
Birthday badges will be available to purchase at the event for $5 and kids can wear them at the party and to their Ukubebe classes.

Moon Festival at Darling Square

Darling Square is being transformed into a world of colour in celebration of Moon Festival.
Traditionally observed in Chinese culture, the festival will see the Darling Square precinct come to life with hundreds of bright lanterns lighting up the night, an exclusive mooncake pop-up stall from Haymarket-based Thai Kee IGA’s Gong Grocer, DJ sets and an immersive art projection.
Food retailers across the precinct will be creating Moon Festival-themed menu items including Auvers’ Once in a Blue Moon mooncake, Wingboy’s Moonboy Fried Ice Cream and Tsukiyo’s Taiyaki with lotus bean paste.
Some exciting additions to the festival will come alone at the end of September, with a DJ on Friday, September 9 from 5-9pm and roving Chinese Ribbon Dancers on Saturday, September 10 from 5-8pm.

Friendship Walk for Charity
A charity day is being held in Vaucluse to support and advocate for disability awareness and inclusion.
The Friendship Walk for charity Sydney Friendship Circle will be followed by food, drinks and free entertainment for the kids. There will be a petting zoo, drumming circle, inflatable obstacle course, bubble performance, magic show, DJ and more.
Gates open at 9am and the walk starts at 9.30am.
Sydney Friendship Circle began in 2007 with one participant and a vision to create a better future for people of all abilities.
Friendship Circle is about concentric circles that make up a community with the shared goals of providing education, support and opportunities. Volunteers extend friendship and assistance to young people with disabilities thus, completing the circle. In return the volunteers gain communication and organisational skills plus self-confidence. More importantly, they learn to embrace differences.
The Friendship Circle Walk began in 2009 with a small, dedicated committee, a handful of business partners and an idea to build a self-perpetuating annual community fundraising and awareness event. The Friendship Circle Walk has become a popular event attracting over 1,500 people and raising nearly $150k per year to support programmes for children with disabilities.

After two years, the Bondi Festival is finally back and it’s bringing a whole lot of family fun along with it from July 1-17.
Ice Skating: strap on some skates and head down to the Bondi Festival Ice rink with the kids. It’s open from 10am-9pm daily for 45-minute sessions that start on the hour, with the last session at 8pm. The Village by The Kids: This walking tour lets participants explore North Bondi through the eyes of local children. The show is on at the Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park from Wednesday, July 14 to Sunday, July 17. There are multiple sessions per day. It goes for approximately 1hr 40min with a 15-20 minute interval.
Along with music, dancing and skating, there’s also safe theatrical fog, strobe lights and dazzling special effects. Your little ones can dress up, but parents and carers will have to leave their fancy dress costumes at home.
Ticket prices start from $29.50. According to the Disney on Ice website, children two-years and older require tickets, but check with the venue about younger children.

LEGO Jurassic World by Brickman exhibition

Grab the kids and head to the Australian Museum to see the LEGO’s largest exhibition yet. It’s taken more than two years, 6 million LEGO bricks and 10,000 hours to design and build, and now you can get up closer to more than 50 large-scale dinosaurs, props and scenes from the Jurassic World franchise.
Visitors get to see inside the Jurassic World lab and explore the baby dinosaur enclosure which features a 1.8 tonne, life-sized Brachiosaurus. Explore the island further to see the Velociraptors, Triceratops and of course, T.rex!

The Wiggles Superhero Tour
Ages 1+
The Wiggles Superhero Tour is coming to multiple locations across Sydney this June and July, with Campbeltown, Castle Hill and Cammeray on the list.
Anthony, Tsehay, Lachy and Simon will be joined by Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, Shirley Shawn the Unicorn and even Caterina and John from the Fruit Salad TV Wiggle series.
Tickets are currently on sale and the Castle Hill shows have already sold out, so get in quick.

Sesame Street Live at St Ives Showgrounds

All our favourite Sesame Street characters are currently putting on a circus show at the St Ives Showgrounds from July 1-17.
See Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Bert and Ernie, Super Grover and of course, Big Bird, in this spectacular 90-minute show.
The performance will also include performers from around the world, including Switzerland, Colombia, Brazil and more. The music has been written and produced in Australia and the voices recorded especially for this production.
Children also get to meet Cookie Monster after the show, and those who have purchased Gold Tickets also get a meet and greet with Elmo.
Ticket prices start at $28 for children and $33 for adults, dependent on where you’re sitting. There are morning, afternoon and evening shows available and performances during the week and on weekends.
There is food available to purchase on site. Prams aren’t allowed into the tent, however there is pram parking onsite too. Dine & Discover NSW and Parent NSW vouchers are both accepted (but cannot be combined).

Uncontained Kogarah Arts Festival
All ages
Belgrave St, Kogarah will be lit up with live art, performance, installations and food from Friday, June 24-Sunday June 26 for the Uncontained Kogarah Arts Festival.
The festival, run by Georges River Council in partnership with Kogarah Clubhouse and Netstrata will run from 4.30-10.30pm each day.
There will be live music, food stalls, an alcohol zone where patrons can enjoy a wine or other beverage, and plenty more for the whole family to enjoy.
Uncontained Arts Festival challenges the idea of what art is, taking it out of a traditional gallery space and letting it take over the streets of Kogarah.
Council is encouraging local businesses to get involved during the festival, by staying open and hosting special offers for local visitors.
