Summer School Holidays at the Powerhouse Museum
Young people from ages 5 – 15 and their families will enjoy immersive educational experiences at Powerhouse Ultimo, Powerhouse Castle Hill and Parramatta.
Future software engineers and programmers will get the chance to harness their creativity with popular coding and robotics workshops. Aspiring fashion designers will also enjoy hands-on workshops inspired by current exhibitions, Zampatti Powerhouse and Gucci Garden Archetypes. The program also provides unique opportunities to work with Powerhouse residents and creatives like Jordan Gogos (Iordanes Spyridon Gogos) and Susie Rugg (Handy with Scissors).
Some of the workshops and activities include:
- FREE activities for all ages at The Lab Pop Up – a family-friendly interactive space at Powerhouse Ultimo
- FREE Paper People Fashion workshop for all ages inspired by Zampatti Powerhouse at Powerhouse Ultimo
- FREE hands-on science-inspired Creative Studio presented by Powerhouse and TAFE NSW for ages 4 – 12 in Parramatta
- Fashion Design workshop with Iordanes Spyridon Gogos for ages 12 – 15 at Powerhouse Ultimo
- Cricut Custom Design workshop for ages 10 – 12 at Powerhouse Ultimo
- Upcycled Wearables workshop with Susie Rugg for ages 5+ at Powerhouse Castle Hill
- Lego Coding and Lego Robot workshops for ages 7+ at Powerhouse Castle Hill

House Down Under
Turn your world upside–down at Australia’s first ever inverted house photo experience. Located in The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park and now extending their stay until the end of January 2023 after popular demand before moving on to an all-new location, soon to be announced.
House Down Under is incredibly fun for everyone and is the perfect place to take the kids during the school holidays and grab a fun and quirky holiday snap.
The unique and exciting attraction looks like a house has been dropped from the sky and landed on its roof, creating a museum of illusion to take mind bending photos in. The topsy-turvy house features eight interactive upside down ‘areas’ created by the House Down Under team and a team of expert designers from the UK. Pose up a storm in the upside-down attic, kids play area and monkey bars, bathroom with toilet, study/office area, traditional house entry, lounge room, bedroom and kitchen.
Entry prices to House Down Under are $27 for an adult; $19 for a child; $23 for a concession, with family passes ranging from $52-$74 for a family of four. Open 7 days, 10.00am – 6.00pm (last entry 5:45pm), The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park.

Taren Point Hotel Holiday Fun

Summer Railmotor Rides
The NSW Rail Museum in Thirlmere is running trainrides onboard their historical trains all January long.
Experience rail travel from the 1920s aboard their timber bodied railmotor, operating 35-minute rides every day.

Berrylicious Strawberries
Spend a day picking strawberries at Berrylicious in Thirlmere. The famour strawberry farm has specific “Pick Your Own” days during the holidays and on weekends, so make sjure to check their Facebook page for which days are avaialble and how to book.
Strawberry picking (and eating as many as you like) is $10 for kids under 10, $20 for adults and those aged above and kids under 2 are free. You can take home strawberries at $25 per kilo. More info here.
Aquatopia Water Park
Enjoy a huge range of attractions and facilities that will thrill people of all ages. Splash around on the 10 and 20 metre high giant slides; the adventure aqua tower; the toddlers pool; Wave Rider body board simulator; and the new, gigantic 55-metre Wave Pool.

Wind in the Willows
The amazing Mr. Toad and his bonny, boisterous pals are celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Wind in the Willows. Glenn Elston’s stunning outdoor production has been proudly entertaining littlies and biggies for generations with this classic tale of life on the riverbank.

School Holiday Madness at The Carousel Inn
Come on down these school holidays and make the most of the FREE kids activities, including inflatables, a reptile show, workshops and more at The Carousel Inn, Rooty Hill.

Golden Ridge Animal Farm

Prospect Pop-up Pools
Sydney Water has constructed a pop up (temporary) swim site at Prospect Reservoir. Two shipping container plunge pools are available for visitors to take a dip in to cool off over the summer holidays.
To avoid queuing, free tickets for specific swim times are required. The pools are located at Andrew Campbell Reserve, William Lawson Dr, Prospect. More info here.
